WhatsApp continues to refine its user experience with a fresh update now in the works. The instant messaging platform is currently testing a new feature for its artificial intelligence chatbot, MetaAI. This upcoming enhancement will enable users to send voice messages to the chatbot, which currently only responds in text. The feature is being introduced to a select group of beta testers initially, with plans to potentially roll it out more widely in the coming weeks.
New Features
According to WABetaInfo, a WhatsApp feature tracker, the new voice message feature for MetaAI has been spotted in the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.24.16.10. Once fully rolled out, users in the Google Play Beta program will be able to tap the MetaAI button to enter the chat interface, where a new voice message icon will be added.
This icon, which resembles those used in other chats and groups, will be located next to the text field at the bottom of the screen. This update will allow users to send voice messages to MetaAI, which will process the audio, understand the query, and respond in text form.
The feature will be particularly useful for users who prefer speaking over typing long questions, making it ideal for those on the go. While MetaAI has been able to generate images, it has not previously handled audio. This update marks a significant expansion of its capabilities.
